Cherwell College Art Weeks

A richly diverse exhibition, exploring art's role in addressing global complexities and shaping our collective future.

"Rebirth of Hope" is a multidisciplinary project that brings together recognised artists and talented young people to delve into pivotal philosophical inquiries of our time.

Cherwell College Artweeks 2023 - Espreso TV:

A very special exhibition, enthused by the collaboration between recognised artists and talented young people. The exhibition manifested a controversy of life: anger & despair caused by unjust wars and at the same time expressed love and rebirth of hope, the feeling you experience when entering the room with certain art pieces. Metamorphosis of life was depicted by a very thoughtful installation “Contra spem spero”, created by Olena Naumenko - a prominent Ukrainian artist.

Olena Naumenko - contemporary Ukrainian artist.

With the help of classical and modern techniques Olena works in the genre of contemporary art with different media and materials: magnet, metal, ceramics, painting, coloured pencils, and video. Her artistic practice is focused on rethinking classical painting and transformation of the theme «Ukrainian painting».

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, she has been exploring the sublimation of psychological pain into art, and overcoming depressive states related to the war and the loss of loved ones through immersion in art.

A Duet of Bogdana Pivnenko & Kory Sheldunov

A special programme of duets for two violins demonstrating a musical dialogue between the teacher (Bogdana Pivnenko – a prominent Ukrainian violinist and a Cherwell College Fellow) and the student (a young Ukrainian prodigy – Kory Sheldunov).
