Cherwell Choir

The Cherwell Choir, an initiative of Cherwell College, brought together Ukrainian children and others displaced by conflict in Britain. Under the guidance of professional instructor Yevheniia Diachenko, herself a refugee from Ukraine, these young vocalists perform contemporary Ukrainian pop songs, reflecting themes of anguish and optimism resonant in the country's music scene.

“When they sing, they show their emotions and sometimes they even cry, but in a good way.”

“They miss their families, they miss their dads who stay in Ukraine, but they feel support from each other and music helps to heal their souls.”
